President Muizzu Extends Warm Congratulations to Nepal on Republic Day

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has sent official messages of congratulations to Nepal’s President Ramchandra Paudel and Prime Minister Balendra Shah to mark the occasion of Nepal's Republic Day.
In a letter addressed to President Paudel, President Muizzu emphasized that the Maldives deeply values its longstanding friendship with Nepal. He noted that this partnership serves the mutual benefit of both nations and the broader region, expressing confidence that the warm ties will continue to strengthen and foster greater cooperation and shared prosperity.
Writing to Prime Minister Shah, the President described Republic Day as a powerful reflection of Nepal’s resilience and enduring national spirit. He specifically highlighted the Prime Minister's leadership following his landslide election victory earlier this year, stating that Nepal's progress toward democratic consolidation and economic prosperity is encouraging.
President Muizzu further affirmed that the cordial relationship between the Maldives and Nepal, built on a foundation of mutual respect and shared interests, will continue to deepen and bring the citizens of both nations closer together.
Taking to his official X account, the President praised the Nepalese people for their contributions to building a progressive nation while successfully preserving their distinct identity and rich cultural traditions. He concluded his messages by wishing the Nepalese leadership good health and happiness, and peace and progress for the people of Nepal.
Nepal celebrates Republic Day annually on May 28, commemorating the historic transition to a federal democratic republic in 2008.
