President Muizzu: Free Maldives from the Slavery of Debt, Achieve Economic Independence

Politics ·
Just as the Maldivian nation was freed from the slavery of weapons on November 3, 1988, President and Commander-in-Chief Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that this nation must also be freed from the slavery of debt. Speaking at an official gathering held tonight for the Day of Nasr, the President said that loyalty to the country will always yield fruitful results, and that in today’s context, the nation can safeguard its identity, religion, and way of life only by achieving economic independence. He recalled the national policies unveiled under the Maldivian flag after assuming office, and noted that these objectives are currently being achieved. The President stated that he had previously pledged to maintain a red line regarding the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and dignity of the Maldives while implementing his policies, and that he is making numerous efforts to realize these goals. He also said that the country has been protected from warnings issued by various parties that the Maldives would collapse. "Without taking on responsibilities, we continued borrowing money and spending it. That culture has ended, and we are now working to repay the debts incurred. As a result, the trust of foreign investors is growing day by day towards this humble nation." - President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu The President said that a nation speaks with its own voice and safeguards its religion and way of life when it has built an economy that does not require begging, and specifically through economic independence. "Just as we Maldivians freed this nation from the slavery of weapons on that day, we must free the Maldivian nation from the slavery of debt." - President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu Noting that instead of merely watching other countries of the world advance in development alongside independence, the nation must move forward its thinking and work towards the development and prosperity desired by the people, he emphasized this point. "My complete certainty bestowed upon you all is that I will never do anything that could lead to even the slightest diminution of any national pillar such as the Islamic nature of the Maldives, the complete freedom of the Maldivians, or their self-reliance." - President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu Furthermore, the President stated that every decision he makes is aimed at ensuring complete vitality, progress, protection, and safety for all sectors of the Maldivian nation.
