President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has issued a heartfelt message to the nation and the global Muslim community, describing the Day of Arafat as a momentous occasion of "mercy, blessings, happiness, approval and forgiveness."
Marking the observance of the 1447th Hajj Day, the President highlighted the profound spiritual significance of the pilgrimage. In his remarks, he began with the holy words of Talbiyah, the sacred invocation recited by pilgrims, and emphasized how Hajj serves as a powerful display of unity, devotion, and equality for Muslims from every corner of the globe.
"The day of Arafat or Hajj, which the entire Islamic Ummah is celebrating today, is the day on which Allah is most proud of His servants," President Muizzu stated, noting the extraordinary opportunity for believers to seek redemption and spiritual renewal.
First Lady Sajidha Mohamed also joined in the commemorations, sharing greetings via social media. She extended her prayers for the safety and spiritual fulfillment of all pilgrims, specifically wishing for the best rewards for every Maldivian brother and sister and the wider Islamic Ummah.
Official reports confirm that nearly all Maldivian pilgrims have successfully assembled at the plains of Arafat. With only one pilgrim remaining outside the gathering, officials confirmed that all Maldivians participating in the pilgrimage are in good condition.
The gathering at Arafat represents the spiritual climax of Hajj, where millions of Muslims spend the day in earnest supplication and remembrance of Allah. Religious scholars emphasize the unique status of this day, describing it as a time of immense spiritual importance and a primary occasion for salvation.
As the fifth pillar of Islam, Hajj remains a fundamental obligation for every able-bodied Muslim who possesses the financial means to undertake the journey once in their lifetime, symbolizing a total submission to the will of the Creator.
