President Muizzu Hails Scout Movement as Vital Uniting Force for Maldivian Youth

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has praised the Scout movement as a powerful force for national unity, bridging the geographical divide between island communities from the north to the south of the Maldives. Speaking in a congratulatory address to mark the 70th anniversary of the movement's introduction, the President highlighted how scouting fosters a responsible, self-reliant generation rooted in strong moral principles. Reflecting on seven decades of scouting in the country, President Muizzu expressed deep appreciation for the pioneers who established the movement and the current leaders sustaining its operations. He noted that the courage and altruism displayed by scouts are reflections of ancestral Maldivian values of respect and mutual care. The President emphasized that the movement serves as an exemplary model of humanitarian service. He specifically cited the Scouts' unwavering readiness and leadership during national crises, most notably the devastating Indian Ocean Tsunami of December 26, 2004, where volunteers served the nation without hesitation. Drawing from personal experience, President Muizzu shared how the skills and values he acquired as a youth in the movement shaped his own life's journey. He emphasized the enduring relevance of the Cub Scout motto, 'Do Your Best,' and the Scout motto, 'Be Prepared,' stating that these foundational experiences are exactly what the current generation of youth requires to succeed in all facets of life. Concluding his address, the President reaffirmed the government's commitment to the Scout Association. He assured members and organizers that the administration will provide full support to expand and advance scouting activities across the archipelago, ensuring the movement is preserved in its truest form for future generations.
