President Muizzu Inaugurates First STO Fuel Skid in Dhuvaafaru

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the first State Trading Organization (STO) fuel skid in R. Dhuvaafaru, marking the beginning of a nationwide initiative to improve fuel accessibility for fishermen at base rates. The fuel skid, launched on December 13, 2025, is part of the administration’s plan to establish 18 such facilities across the Maldives by March next year. The initiative aims to fulfill President Muizzu’s pledge to support fishermen by ensuring affordable fuel access. The inauguration took place during the President’s one-day visit to Dhuvaafaru to celebrate Fishermen’s Day. However, this year’s event was overshadowed by protests from yellowfin fishermen frustrated by delays in government promises.
