President Muizzu Initiates Solar-Desalination Hybrid Project in Dhonfanu

Politics ·
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has launched a solar-desalination hybrid project in B. Dhonfanu as part of his policy initiatives. This project aims to provide sustainable energy solutions to the island while significantly reducing the nation's reliance on diesel generators. The initiative is expected to generate 301 kilowatts of solar power and includes a 537.6-kilowatt battery energy storage system to ensure a stable power supply. Additionally, the project will reduce diesel consumption, saving approximately 141,443 liters annually, and cut carbon dioxide emissions by 347 tons each year. This move aligns with the government's goal to source 33% of the nation’s electricity from renewable energy by 2028.
