President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to building a compassionate and inclusive society, aligning the goal with both Islamic principles and universal human values.
In a message posted on X to mark World Down Syndrome Day, the President stated that treating those in need with kindness is a core tenet emphasised in the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH). He described assisting those in need as one of the most enduring acts of charity in Islam.
Aligning with this year's global theme, President Muizzu underscored that no individual should be excluded from society. He said his administration has launched numerous initiatives over the past 28 months to foster inclusion and affirmed that building an inclusive and compassionate society will remain a top priority moving forward.
Echoing the sentiment, First Lady Sajidha Mohamed also shared a message on the platform. She noted that the challenges faced by individuals do not reflect a lack of strength and praised the community's unique virtues.
Despite often experiencing exclusion, she stated, individuals with Down syndrome interact with the world with profound love, compassion, and kindness.
