President Muizzu Mourns Passing of Centenarian Former Island Chief Ahmed Moosa

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has expressed his deep sorrow following the passing of Ahmed Moosa, a distinguished former Island Chief of Nilandhoo, who died at the age of 100.
In a heartfelt social media tribute, the President praised Moosa’s lifelong dedication to the community of Nilandhoo. He described the late leader as a pillar of strength and integrity, noting that his kindness, diligence, and strong character served as an exemplary model for citizens across the Maldives.
Beyond his administrative leadership, Ahmed Moosa was a recognized pioneer in the country's development. In 1992, he was honored with the National Public Service Award for his significant contributions to the field of agriculture, reflecting his commitment to the nation's food security and rural productivity.
President Muizzu also highlighted the lasting legacy Moosa leaves behind through his family. He noted that the former Island Chief took immense pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, many of whom are highly educated and continue to serve the Maldivian state in various capacities.
Describing the loss as a matter of great personal sadness, the President concluded his message by praying for Allah’s mercy, forgiveness, and blessings upon the deceased, acknowledging the void left by the passing of a centenarian who witnessed and shaped a century of Maldivian history.
