President Muizzu was recognized for his administration's efforts to safeguard public health in the Maldives, particularly through stringent tobacco control measures. Key initiatives include increasing cigarette duties, banning the import, sale, and use of vapes, and raising the minimum age for purchasing tobacco products to 21. Additionally, a historic legal amendment prohibits tobacco sales and consumption for individuals born after 2007.
