President Muizzu: Nation Must Embrace Revolutionary Change Without Compromising Independence

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the entire nation must undergo revolutionary changes that benefit the national economy without affecting the country's independence and sovereignty. He made these remarks while addressing the official ceremony commemorating Nasr Day, drawing lessons from the past and emphasizing the importance of realizing the dreams of ancestors to advance the country. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu stated that history testifies that behind every attack aimed at taking away the Maldives' independence, there have been groups of Maldivians who harbored resentment towards governance. He said those who were martyred in these attacks died because they did not want the country to suffer, and each martyr was elevated for the sake of the homeland, the country's independence, and its future development. Highlighting that loyalty to the country will always yield positive results, the President stated that a nation can preserve its religion and own way only by achieving economic independence. He said that just as ancestors freed the country from slavery through weapons, the country must now be freed from debt slavery. He also highlighted that instead of merely watching other countries advance on the path of development, the nation must move forward its thinking and work towards the development and sufficiency desired by the people. "Development is the right of every Maldivian. Advancing is something that upholds the honor and dignity of the Maldivian nation," the President said. The President stated that although he has brought development to the country, he will not weaken or diminish any pillar of the nation. "I have complete confidence in you that I will not do anything that leads to even a slight weakening of any national pillar such as the absolute Islamization of the Maldives, the complete independence of the Maldivians, and the uniqueness of the Maldivians," he said. He further stated that every decision he makes will ensure complete prosperity, security, protection, and safety for all Maldivian national interests, and noted that the national policies he revealed while assuming office under the Maldivian flag are remembered and are currently being achieved.
