President Muizzu: No Opportunity to Practice Other Religions in Rasmale
Politics ·
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu stated that there will be no opportunity to practice other religions in the Rasmale development project. Speaking on The Plus Podcast on 20 October 2026, the President addressed concerns raised by political figures about the potential for non‑Muslim religious practices in the area being built by Eagle Hills. He emphasised that the Constitution of the Maldives clearly establishes Islam as the state religion and prohibits the practice of any other religion anywhere in the country, including Rasmale. President Muizzu clarified that only mosques will be built in the project area, and there will be no temples, churches, or schools for other faiths. He dismissed the rumours as politically motivated lies and called on the public to remain aware of the facts.
