President Muizzu Opens Public Consultations for Eight More Maldivian Constituencies

The President's Office has announced that residents from eight additional constituencies can now apply to participate in 'Rayyithunge Adu,' a series of direct consultation meetings with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The newly opened constituencies include Ihavandhoo, Naifaru, Fonadhoo, Meedhoo, VilliMale', Machangolhi South, Maamigili, and Thinadhoo North. This expansion brings more of the Maldives' 93 electoral divisions into the program, which aims to bridge the gap between the executive and the public. Interested citizens must register through the dedicated portal at rayyithungeadu.presidency.gov.mv by midnight on Monday, August 17. The initiative was first announced by President Muizzu during a 'National Chat' program hosted by PSM, designed to allow the President to hear views and grievances directly from the people without intermediaries. According to the published guidelines, participants may raise personal concerns, represent institutional issues, or discuss matters of broader public interest. To maintain order and efficiency, each participant is allocated 10 minutes of speaking time. The President's Office will determine the final number of attendees based on available time and administrative logistics. To ensure a family-inclusive environment, participants are permitted to be accompanied by their spouse, one child, and one parent. However, the administration has emphasized a strict code of conduct; any threatening behavior or abusive language will result in a breach of the participation rules. This latest round of invitations follows a previous phase that included residents from Hulhumalé North, Hulhudhoo, Hoarafushi, Hulhumalé Central, Maafannu South, Ungoofaaru, Kelaa, and Fuvahmulah South. President Muizzu has positioned these meetings as a cornerstone of his engagement strategy. Over the past two years, he has traveled extensively to meet with councils across all inhabited islands, and 'Rayyithunge Adu' serves as a structured extension of these efforts to ensure every constituency has a voice in the government's priorities.
