President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to fostering a compassionate and inclusive society, aligning his message with the observance of World Down Syndrome Day. In a statement posted on X, the President framed the cause as a core tenet of both Islamic teachings and universal human values.
President Muizzu highlighted the religious imperative for kindness, stating that treating those in need with compassion is a principle emphasized in the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He reinforced that assisting those in need constitutes one of the most enduring acts of charity in Islam.
Aligning with this year's global theme, the President underscored that no individual should be excluded from society. He stressed that his administration has undertaken numerous initiatives over the past 28 months to foster inclusion and affirmed that building an inclusive and compassionate society will remain a top priority.
Echoing the sentiment, First Lady Sajidha Mohamed also shared a message on X. She noted that the challenges faced by individuals do not reflect a lack of strength. She praised the unique virtues of the community, stating that despite often experiencing exclusion, individuals with Down syndrome interact with the world with profound love, compassion, and kindness.
