President Muizzu Pledges Expanded Cooperation with Bangladesh Following New Presidential Election

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has expressed confidence that diplomatic and strategic cooperation between the Maldives and Bangladesh will expand under the leadership of Bangladesh's newly elected President, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
In a formal congratulatory letter addressed to President Mirza Fakhrul, President Muizzu emphasized that the enduring relationship between the two South Asian nations is rooted in strong historical ties and a mutual commitment to regional stability and sustainable development.
The Maldivian President noted his conviction that the partnership would grow in both depth and scope, bringing the two countries closer in the coming years through enhanced bilateral engagement.
Addressing the political landscape in Bangladesh, President Muizzu described the recent presidential election—the first contested such event in 35 years—as a significant milestone in the country's democratic journey. He noted that the outcome reflected the trust and mandate placed in the newly elected president by the Bangladeshi people.
