President Muizzu Pledges Stronger Ties Following State Visit to Sri Lanka

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed have expressed their gratitude to the government and people of Sri Lanka following the conclusion of their official state visit. The visit, conducted at the invitation of Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, focused on deepening the historic diplomatic and cultural bonds between the two neighboring nations.
In a message shared via social media—written in the Sinhalese language as a gesture of goodwill—President Muizzu stated his confidence that the long-standing relationship between the Maldives and Sri Lanka will continue to strengthen. He extended his thanks to the Sri Lankan hosts for the hospitality provided to him, the First Lady, and the accompanying Maldivian delegation throughout their stay.
During the visit, President Muizzu held high-level discussions with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr Harini Amarasuriya. The President described these talks as "highly encouraging," noting that they spanned a wide range of sectors aimed at mutual growth. The discussions focused on identifying shared goals and advancing bilateral cooperation to provide tangible benefits for the citizens of both countries.
The diplomatic mission was further solidified through the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). These agreements establish formal frameworks for cooperation across various sectors, ensuring that the dialogue translates into actionable partnerships.
Throughout the visit, the Maldivian delegation met with the Sri Lankan President, Prime Minister, and other senior government officials. These engagements served to reinforce the strategic partnership between the two nations, with President Muizzu concluding his visit by wishing for an enduring friendship that spans generations.
