President Muizzu Pledges to Resolve Development Bottlenecks in Utheemu

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured residents of Utheemu that the government will prioritize removing obstacles hindering the island's development and find immediate solutions to its pressing infrastructure and staffing challenges. During a meeting at the Utheemu Council Secretariat, the President met with members of the Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee, and heads of local institutions. The discussions focused on critical gaps in the island's infrastructure and the delivery of essential public services. The Island Council specifically urged the administration to expedite the commencement of work on the local harbor and the Bandhaara Mosque, both of which are seen as vital for the community's growth. Additionally, council members sought updates on the construction of the State House and requested the swift completion of the new Council Secretariat building, as well as the island's futsal and volleyball courts. Beyond infrastructure, the council highlighted a critical staffing crisis at the Utheemu Health Centre. Representatives emphasized that a severe shortage of nurses is compromising the facility's ability to provide adequate healthcare to the population, requesting urgent government intervention to fill these vacancies. Responding to these concerns, President Muizzu committed to closely examining each issue raised. He emphasized that the government is dedicated to streamlining development processes to ensure that stalled projects are revived and that essential services are adequately staffed. Accompanying the President, several cabinet ministers provided the council with technical updates on ongoing projects, signaling a coordinated effort between the executive branch and local governance to accelerate the island's progress.
