President Muizzu Prioritizes Campaign Promises Over Political Rivalry and Criticism

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that his administration remains focused on delivering tangible results for the Maldivian people rather than engaging with political critics. Speaking on PSM’s 'Nation Chat' programme, the President dismissed assertions from political rivals who claim they will defeat him in the next presidential election. President Muizzu emphasized that his primary objective is the fulfillment of the commitments he made during his campaign. He noted that responding to political rhetoric would be a distraction from the urgent work of governance and national development. “I do not even think about that. I think about fulfilling the promises I have made,” the President said, adding that he intends to move forward in collaboration with his cabinet, members of the Majlis (Parliament), and ordinary citizens. He stressed that success in these endeavors depends on a collective effort from all stakeholders across the government. The President highlighted that significant progress is currently being made across several key sectors. His administration is specifically targeting the strengthening of the national economy, the refinement of foreign affairs, and the acceleration of social and youth development. Healthcare and business growth also remain central to the government's immediate agenda. Among the most critical pledges the administration is pursuing are comprehensive solutions to the housing crisis and the acceleration of urban development projects. Furthermore, President Muizzu underlined his commitment to enhancing national security by upgrading the resources and infrastructure of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). Beyond infrastructure and security, the President reaffirmed his dedication to sustaining economic growth and introducing systemic measures to address long-standing challenges within the education and health sectors. By focusing on these core pillars, the administration aims to demonstrate its value through results rather than political debate.
