President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed that establishing a safe and secure environment for children is one of the state's highest priorities. In a message released to mark Children’s Day, the President called for a renewed national commitment to protecting children’s rights and ensuring their overall well-being. President Muizzu emphasized that the government is continuously working to enhance the delivery of essential healthcare services and quality education. He noted that while institutional support is vital, the emotional development of children depends heavily on kindness, compassion, and love. The President highlighted that every adult—within both the home and the classroom—bears a personal responsibility to guide and encourage the youth. Addressing the long-term vision for the nation, the President described today's children as the future leaders of the Maldives. He stressed the importance of raising them as individuals of strong character, deeply rooted in Islamic principles and traditional Maldivian values. He further asserted that providing a proper upbringing is a shared responsibility that must be upheld by both the state and society at large. A significant portion of the President's address focused on modern vulnerabilities, specifically the emerging threats within the online environment. While acknowledging that technology is an indispensable tool for education and entertainment, President Muizzu warned that unmonitored internet access can expose children to "serious and irreversible dangers." To combat these risks, the President urged parents, educators, and community members to adopt new perspectives and collaborate more closely to foster a healthy, responsible younger generation. He reaffirmed that the policy of protecting children from all forms of abuse remains a cornerstone of state governance. Concluding his message, President Muizzu expressed his confidence in the youth, praying for all Maldivian children to grow up healthy and successful. He noted that their growth and stability are fundamental to the future development and progress of the Maldives.
