President Muizzu Reiterates Commitment to Integrity and Anti-Corruption Efforts

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed the Maldives’ commitment to integrity, transparency, and accountability as the guiding principles for the nation’s future. In a message marking International Anti-Corruption Day, the President emphasized the importance of the Maldives’ accession to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) in 2007, calling it a solemn national obligation. He highlighted the severe threats posed by systemic corruption to the rule of law, sustainable development, democratic governance, and citizens' rights. The President reiterated the Administration’s zero-tolerance policy on corruption and outlined key initiatives, including the Maldives 2.0 digital transformation programme, the Anti-Corruption Commission’s asset recovery efforts, and the establishment of an Anti-Corruption Academy. He also called on citizens and the private sector to join the fight against corruption, emphasizing the role of youth in shaping a future built on integrity and justice.
