President Muizzu Reports Increased Efficiency Following Government Ministry Reforms
Politics ·
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that ongoing reforms to government ministries and the Cabinet are yielding positive results, significantly improving the efficiency of state administration and public service delivery.
Speaking on PSM’s "Nation Chat" programme, the President explained that the restructuring was a strategic move to align government operations with the needs of the public. He noted that the decision to implement these changes was driven by the results of Local Council Elections and public opinion surveys, which indicated a strong demand for administrative reform.
President Muizzu emphasized that while previous ministers worked with dedication, the restructuring was necessary to elevate performance. He asserted that as the head of government, he holds the responsibility to correct policy implementation whenever it fails to meet effective standards.
As a tangible example of these improvements, the President highlighted a dramatic reduction in response times for students studying abroad. He revealed that processing requests which previously took an average of four weeks now take approximately four days, with further efforts underway to shorten this timeframe even more.
Beyond the Cabinet reshuffle, the administration is moving toward a leaner governance model. President Muizzu stated that the government has decided to reduce the number of political appointees within ministries, a process that will proceed following a comprehensive operational review.
To ensure these gains are sustainable, the President has issued direct instructions to all ministries to prioritize more efficient and effective communication with the public. He concluded that while noticeable improvements have already materialized, the government will continue to refine its operations to better serve the Maldivian people.
