President Muizzu says Ras Malé sale agreement to be signed before November 17

President Mohamed Muizzu has informed Members of Parliament that the permanent agreement for the sale of Ras Malé to UAE businessman Mohammed Alabbar will be signed before November 17. The announcement was made during a meeting held at the President’s official residence. According to sources present, the sale involves 500 hectares of the reclaimed island to Eagle Hills. The President also said that every time property changes hands, a new 99-year lease term will apply, contradicting earlier claims by the government. Previously, Muizzu had pledged that Ras Malé would be reserved exclusively for Maldivians and would never be leased to foreign parties.
