President Mohamed Muizzu announced tonight that the full agreement for the Rasmalé project, run by UAE's Equal Hills, will be sent to the People's Majlis for review. Speaking on the Nation Chat Podcast by PSM, the President stated that the project will proceed with greater transparency and that nothing prohibited by the Constitution will take place there. He said a Real Estate Tourism Bill is being prepared for Parliament, which will be opened for public consultation. The President emphasised that there is no need for citizens to worry about the 500-hectare investment, listing restrictions: no church will be built, five daily prayers will be called, a mosque will be present, and no foreign-controlled schools will operate. He guaranteed legally and in the agreement that Maldivian police will remain, and that Maldivian laws and the Constitution will govern the area, with no foreign laws applying. The President said that only Maldivians and Muslims from other countries will stay, and that no citizen of Israel will be able to buy or lease any property or even stay for a day, with checks via CCTV and passports. He accused the opposition of trying to prevent investment and create fear. The commercial terms agreement for the Rasmalé Waterfront and Marina project has already been signed.
