President Muizzu Swears In New Leadership for People’s National Congress

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu presided over a special session of the People’s National Congress (PNC) to swear in the party's newly elected and appointed leadership. The ceremony, held during the PNC Congress, formalizes the governance structure of the ruling party, integrating senior government ministers, members of Parliament, and corporate executives into the party's executive framework. The party's top leadership is now anchored by Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla, who serves as Chairperson. Supporting the leadership are Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef and PNC parliamentary group leader Ibrahim Falah as Deputy Presidents, while Moosa Fathuhy Adam assumes the role of Secretary General. The executive core is rounded out by Mohamed Lam’aan as Deputy Secretary General and Hussain Fahmy as Treasurer. Broadening the party's strategic reach, six additional Deputy Presidents were elected, including several high-ranking cabinet members: Abdulla Raafiu (Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness), Ahmed Shiyam (Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources), and Mohamed Saeed (Economic Development, Transport and Trade). Parliamentarians Fathimath Saudha and Ibrahim Shujaau, alongside Chief Government Spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef, also hold these positions. President Muizzu further strengthened the party's administrative capacity by appointing seven ministerial-level officials, including Tourism Minister Mohamed Ameen and Health Minister Geela Ali. This alignment ensures that the party's political goals are closely synchronized with government execution. In a move to integrate private sector expertise, the President appointed three corporate leaders to the party structure: Male' City Group of Hospitals CEO Abdulla Razzaq Haleem, HDC Managing Director Ali Zuhair, and FDC Managing Director Hamdaan Shakeel. The ceremony concluded with oaths taken by PNC members of Parliament and senior officials from the party's women's and youth wings, as well as representatives from various constituency steering committees. This comprehensive swearing-in marks a pivotal step in consolidating the ruling party's internal organization to support its legislative and governing agenda.
