President Muizzu to Launch AI-Powered Citizens Complaints Bureau by July 26

Politics ·
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the Citizens Complaints Bureau will be operational by July 26, introducing a centralized system designed to overhaul government accountability and responsiveness across the Maldives. Speaking during the PSM News program “Nation Chat: With the President,” the President identified the bureau as the primary solution to systemic delays in government services. The initiative aims to move away from fragmented agency-led responses toward a unified compliance management mechanism that governs all citizen grievances across the state. To ensure efficiency, the bureau will integrate artificial intelligence and digital technology to process complaints. According to President Muizzu, the AI-driven system will automatically retrieve information from relevant authorities to provide citizens with swift, accurate responses. This digital infrastructure will be supported by a dedicated 24-hour call center operating within the President's Office. Recognizing the need for accessibility, the administration will offer multiple submission channels. Citizens can lodge complaints via traditional letters, email, the GEMS messaging platform, the Citizens Voice platform, telephone, and various social media channels. Beyond the new bureau, the President emphasized a broader push for institutional discipline, specifically targeting the responsiveness of ministry front offices and telephone etiquette. He stated that his administration is prioritizing a culture where government representatives are reachable and accountable to the public. The President's Office will maintain direct oversight of the bureau, monitoring how various agencies handle reported issues and ensuring that actions are taken in a timely manner. This move signals a shift toward a more transparent government framework where the central administration holds individual ministries accountable for their service delivery to the public.
