President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu will depart for Pakistan tomorrow for a state visit, during which a Pakistan-Maldives Business Forum will be held to strengthen bilateral trade and investment ties. The visit, at the invitation of Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, will run until Thursday. The Pakistan Foreign Ministry confirmed that the business forum aims to connect business communities from both countries and explore new opportunities in trade and investment. A senior Maldivian government official said around 300 delegates are expected to participate. The government will present information on economic opportunities available in the Maldives. President Muizzu and Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed are scheduled to address the forum. Several agreements are set to be signed during the visit, covering trade, investment, health, education, climate change, tourism, civil aviation, defence and military cooperation. President Muizzu will also hold high-level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari. This is the first visit by a Maldivian president to Pakistan in 10 years. The last visit was by former President Abdulla Yameen in 2015. This year also marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
