President Muizzu to Resume Community Meetings in June to Refine Government Policy

Politics ·
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the government is preparing to resume a series of community engagement meetings starting in June. The initiative aims to establish a direct line of communication between the administration and the public to better understand the immediate concerns of residents. Speaking during a regular press conference at the President’s Office, President Muizzu detailed a comprehensive outreach strategy. The engagements will feature public consultation sessions for individual wards within Malé, targeted meetings with sector-specific stakeholders, and official visits to islands across the various atolls. The President indicated that the administration intends to hold these sessions at least once a week, provided there are no conflicting official travel commitments. He confirmed that consultations with key economic pillars, including the tourism and fisheries industries, have already been finalized to ensure a broad range of professional perspectives are considered. According to the President, these meetings are not merely symbolic but serve as a critical tool for shaping government policy. By engaging directly with the community, the administration seeks to align its efforts with the vision of the people and identify systemic issues that often go unreported through traditional bureaucratic channels. "We always want to work closely with residents," President Muizzu noted, emphasizing that this collaborative approach ensures government actions are grounded in the actual needs of the population. He further stated that his primary objective is to communicate the government's long-term vision with maximum transparency, fostering a relationship of trust and accountability between the state and its citizens.
