President Muizzu Urges Maldivians to Honor Soldiers' Sacrifices on Victory Day

National ·
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has called on Maldivians to draw lessons and inspiration from the noble jihad and courage shown by Maldivian soldiers in order to uphold the Maldives' independence. In a special message shared on social media to mark Victory Day, the President congratulated the nation's soldiers and all loyal citizens with greetings and best wishes. To commemorate this year's Victory Day, the First Lady graced the flag-raising and guard mounting ceremony held at the November 3 Memorial Building this morning. The ceremony began vibrantly with a large congregational prayer at the Islamic Centre. Victory Day is observed every year on November 3 to remember the failed terrorist attack on the Maldives in 1988 and to recall the exemplary conduct of the Maldivian military and citizens. In the attack on that day, eight Maldivian soldiers and 11 members of the public were martyred.
