President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu assured the public last night that he would not take any action that would diminish, even slightly, any national pillar such as the 100 percent Islam present in the country since time immemorial, the complete independence of the Maldivians, and the self-reliance of the Maldivians. The President made this pledge at a special gathering held on the occasion of Nasr Day this year in the Jubilee Square area of Malé. "At this historic square, I give you this complete assurance that I will not do anything in any way that would diminish even slightly the 100 percent Islam of the Republic of Maldives, the complete independence of the Maldivians, or the self-reliance of the Maldivians—any national pillar whatsoever," President Muizzu said. According to him, every step he takes and every decision he makes is aimed at ensuring complete prosperity, peace, protection, and security for all segments of the Maldivian nation. He stated that the Maldivians achieved victory on Nasr Day for the sake of independence and recalled the memory of those martyred on November 3, 1988, who did not want the country to suffer and whose intention was to maintain the safety of this paradise of peace. The President said that the result of loyalty to the country is always dignity, and the result of betrayal is always disgrace. The gathering was also attended by Defense Minister Hassan and Chief of Defense Force Hilmi.
