President Muizzu Welcomes Philippines Ambassador to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu formally received the Letter of Credence from the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines, Nina P. Cainglet, during a diplomatic ceremony at the President’s Office. The event began with a traditional 'Haiykolhu' cultural procession, where the Ambassador was escorted by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band, blending diplomatic formality with Maldivian heritage. Following the formal presentation, President Muizzu and Ambassador Cainglet held a bilateral meeting to discuss matters of mutual interest. The discussions focused on deepening the cooperation between the two nations and identifying new areas for strategic partnership. During the exchange, Ambassador Cainglet expressed her gratitude for the hospitality and support extended to Filipino nationals currently living and working in the Maldives. The two diplomats reaffirmed their shared commitment to enhancing the diplomatic ties that have linked the two countries for five decades. Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the Philippines were officially established on July 12, 1974. This latest diplomatic engagement signals a continued effort to modernize and expand the relationship between Male' and Manila.
