Politics ·
On the occasion of Victory Day, President Mohamed Muizzu called on Maldivians to embrace revolutionary changes that would positively impact the country's finances, and assured that the government would not undermine the religion, independence, or distinctiveness of the Maldives. Speaking at the official ceremony at Republic Square, the President emphasized that political passions, the arrogance of power, and jealousy must not be placed before the country's advancement and interests. He highlighted that the most important foundation for a sufficient and prosperous life is economic independence, and that the country must free itself from the 'slavery of debt' just as it freed itself from the slavery of weapons on Victory Day. President Muizzu also stated that the government's first promise was to rescue the country from debts and bring the economy ashore, and the second was to prioritize reviving Maldivian identity. He assured that no decision will be taken that causes even a slight reduction in national pillars such as the purity of Islam, complete independence, and distinctiveness, and that every step and decision will be with the noble goal of ensuring complete vitality and security for all identities of the Maldivian country.
