President's Office Directs Media Grant Disbursement Process via Youth Ministry

Politics ·
The President's Office has instructed the Youth Ministry to handle the disbursement of media grants as part of this year's budget allocations. The Ministry will work in coordination with the Media and Broadcasting Commission to ensure the process is carried out effectively. This directive comes after concerns were raised regarding the transparency and control of the grant disbursement process. The Media and Broadcasting Commission's Vice President, Zameer Waheed, has confirmed that the commission will oversee the process in collaboration with the Youth Ministry. The largest grant of 3.8 million Rufiyaa has been allocated to Sangu Television, followed by Sangu Online with 1.3 million Rufiyaa, totaling 5.1 million Rufiyaa for both platforms. Critics argue that the process could lead to increased government control over media outlets.
