Public Service Media (PSM) and the Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) have entered into a strategic partnership to elevate the Maldives' global tourism profile during the upcoming Asia Media Summit. The two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the PSM TV Building to coordinate promotional efforts targeting international media delegates.
Scheduled to take place from May 11 to 14, the summit is organized by PSM and hosted by the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development. The collaboration focuses on leveraging the presence of global media outlets to showcase the Maldives as a premier destination, utilizing the summit's platform to reach diverse international markets.
PSM Managing Director Ahmed Shakeeb emphasized the critical nature of this opportunity, noting that the Maldives' economy relies heavily on the tourism sector. He highlighted that the participation of major international networks, including Russia’s RT, provides a vital gateway to reach high-growth markets such as Russia, ensuring the country's tourism products receive significant global exposure.
Echoing these sentiments, VMC Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree stated that the partnership is designed to build lasting relationships with foreign media organizations. By creating these connections, VMC aims to expand its reach across various international platforms and diversify the ways the country's unique tourism offerings are presented to the world.
This year's summit, themed “From Tradition to Tech,” is expected to draw approximately 300 participants from 30 different countries. The event serves as a convergence of traditional broadcasting and modern digital trends, providing an ideal backdrop for the Maldives to demonstrate its evolution as a world-class travel destination.
