Public Service Media (PSM) has been honored with a Special Award for Media Excellence at the 21st Asia Media Summit (AMS). The accolade recognizes PSM’s ongoing commitment and strategic efforts to drive progress within the media and broadcasting sector of the Maldives.
The award was presented during the gala dinner and AIBD International Media Awards Night, a centerpiece of the summit that celebrates outstanding broadcasting achievements across the Asia-Pacific region. The event serves as a platform for regional media houses to showcase innovation and journalistic excellence.
In total, five major awards were distributed during the ceremony, including categories for the Best Radio Programme and Best TV Programme, alongside several Commendation Awards. Vietnam’s VOV World Voice of Vietnam secured the Best Radio Programme award for its production titled “Peaceful Vietnamese New Year in Every Home: A Sweet Command from the Heart of Soldiers.”
The Best TV Programme award was presented to South Korea’s Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) for the documentary “Life of the Burning Earth: The Vanishing Season.”
Beyond the competitive awards, the summit also recognized the contributions of its collaborators by presenting special certificates to AMS partners. To welcome the international delegates, the event featured a series of cultural showcases highlighting Maldivian heritage, including traditional dances and the rhythmic beats of Boduberu, offering participants a glimpse into the unique cultural identity of the archipelago.
