Public voting for PSM's Chalu Dhivehire Award opens tomorrow
Local News ·
Public Service Media (PSM) has announced that public voting for the Chalu Dhivehire Award will open tomorrow.
The award, launched by PSM to recognise islands distinguished for advancing society, protecting the environment, tourism and innovative work, will be decided by combining 60 percent marks from the judges with 40 percent from the public vote.
According to PSM, the objective of the award is to preserve the natural beauty of the islands, strengthen brotherhood among the people, and encourage island councils and residents to bring about sustainable development for a good future.
Under the second round of the award, evaluation of the top five islands selected from each category has now been completed. The judges' panel visited each island and awarded marks.
PSM said public voting, the next stage of the award, will open tomorrow and will be carried out through the PSM Aar application. Voting is open until the 15th of next month, and PSM describes this as an opportunity for the public to vote in support of the islands they like from the various categories.
The final result of the second round will be determined by combining the judges' marks with the public vote, under the rule of giving 60 percent to the judges' evaluation and 40 percent to the public vote.
