Rasmale project a ‘crime’ to fund Muizzu’s 2028 bid, says MP Maaroof

Member Maaroof Zakir, representing the Kandhu constituency in the People’s Majlis, has described the Rasmale project as a crime being carried out to raise funds by taking a “mortgage” in order to help President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu win the presidential election scheduled for 2028.
Speaking at an emergency event held on Friday night under the name “Dhivehin Ge Bin Dhivee Nin Na,” Member Maaroof strongly criticised President Muizzu, saying that although the President entered office making many promises to the Maldivian people, it has now become clear that he “openly lies and deceives” them.
Member Maaroof said that with three years having passed in office, it is evident that President Muizzu is not someone who loves the Maldivian people. He listed a series of promises made by the President—such as no waiting for medical treatment, provision of land and housing, lower prices for food and basic commodities, a stable dollar rate, and a happy life for the people—stating that these were made in every presidential statement and in front of the Maldivian flag.
The MP further claimed that this government is destroying the future of the children and grandchildren of the Dhivehis by populating Jews in the Maldives. He insisted that the Rasmale project is not being conducted with good wishes for the Maldivian people or for the good of the country, but is directly a crime to raise a large amount of money to help President Muizzu win the next election. He called on the people to reject this, and to show that they will not allow Maldivian land to be handed over to Israelis.
