Rasmale Project 'Unprecedented' in Maldives History, Could Secure President Muizzu's Re-election: PNC MP Falah
Politics ·
During a parliamentary debate on a resolution concerning the Rasmale project, People's National Congress (PNC) Parliamentary Group Leader and Inguraidhoo constituency MP Ibrahim Falah described the project as the largest ever in the history of the Maldives. He stated that if the massive project is implemented, it would significantly aid President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu in securing victory in the 2028 presidential election.
"This is a project like no other in our history," Falah said. He added that even if the project does not go ahead, President Muizzu would still win re-election, but its implementation would make victory far easier.
Falah criticized what he described as attempts by the opposition to create political instability surrounding the Eagle Hills project. He asserted that such efforts would not succeed.
"If every citizen and every politician talks about development, they must first ask why the Maldives cannot reach the level of development seen in Singapore and Dubai. How have those fast-developing countries achieved their progress?" he questioned.
The parliamentary debate was initiated by MP Meekail Ahmed Naseem, representing Gaafu Dhaalu South constituency. According to Falah, the Rasmale project is expected to bring unprecedented growth and prosperity to the country.
