RDC to Build New MNDF Fire Station in Villingili to Boost Emergency Response

World ·
The Road Development Corporation (RDC) has been awarded the contract to construct a Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) fire station in Villingili, Gaafu Alif Atoll. The agreement, signed during a ceremony at the MNDF Headquarters, marks a critical step in enhancing emergency infrastructure in the southern region. State Minister for Defence and National Service Muaz Haleem and RDC Deputy Managing Director Hassan Rifa'ee Bushry signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. The project is funded through the state budget and is scheduled for completion within 550 days. This development is part of a broader government strategy to decentralize and expand fire and rescue services. The current administration aims to establish dedicated firefighting facilities in every atoll to ensure that no region is left vulnerable during disasters. The Villingili station serves as a key component of this nationwide initiative. According to the Ministry of Defence, the presence of a localized fire station will significantly reduce response times for fire incidents and other emergencies within Gaafu Alif Atoll. By positioning resources closer to residential and commercial hubs, the MNDF intends to minimize property damage and save lives through rapid intervention. The signing ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Deputy Minister of Defence and National Service Fathimath Mizna Ali, Vice Chief of Defence Force Brigadier General Ahmed Ghiyas, and Commander of the Fire and Rescue Service Brigadier General Ahmed Thohir. Also present were Service Corps Commandant Brigadier General Ismail Naseer and senior leadership from both the Ministry and RDC.
