A roadshow was held in China to promote tourism in the Maldives and increase the number of tourists arriving from that country. The event took place in Beijing, the capital of China, and was held in connection with the opening of an office for the national airline Maldivian in the city. Around 100 travel agents and tour operators from China participated in the roadshow, which was organized in collaboration with Visit Maldives. Visit Maldives stated that consultations were held with entities active in China's tourism sector regarding potential collaborative efforts to promote and market Maldives' tourism, as well as opportunities within the sector. As part of expanding Maldivian's services, a new office for the airline has been opened in Beijing. The airline highlighted this as an important step towards further strengthening its flights and services internationally. Maldivian stated that this marks a significant advancement in enhancing the airline's operations in the Chinese market and improving relationships with business partners and customers residing in that country. The airline said this would facilitate easier service delivery to customers. According to Maldivian, the main objectives of opening an office in Beijing and holding the roadshow are to further strengthen the longstanding ties between the Maldives and China, and to increase the number of Chinese tourists visiting the Maldives. Additionally, it aims to easily provide information about Maldivian's flights to the Chinese travel market and expand opportunities in the air travel sector between the two countries. Maldivian revealed that with this new office, individuals wishing to travel from various regions of China to the Maldives will benefit from significant ease in ticketing and clarifying information. So far this year, more than 300,000 tourists from China have visited the Maldives, making it the country sending the highest number of tourists to the Maldives.
