Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed emphasized on Saturday that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration has prioritized small businesses more than any previous government. Speaking on the launch episode of 'Tharujamaanaa Eku,' a new podcast hosted by Government Spokesperson Heena Waleed, Saeed highlighted the President’s December 17 meeting with small business owners, where concerns about challenges involving ministries, government agencies, independent institutions, state-owned companies, and local councils were addressed. Saeed noted that the President’s Office has since directed relevant authorities to streamline processes and provide easier pathways for businesses, stating, 'I don’t believe I’ve ever seen such result-oriented and productive work from a president before, and now we are seeing the results.' The Economic Minister also mentioned ongoing efforts to introduce tax concessions for small businesses, with discussions progressing with the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA). Despite delays in repaying debts owed to private businesses, President Muizzu has pledged to settle outstanding amounts before the next Ramadan.
