Saudi Fund for Development CEO Begins Three-Day Official Visit to Maldives

World ·
Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, the Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), has arrived in the Maldives for a three-day official visit to strengthen bilateral cooperation and discuss development initiatives. According to the Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises, the CEO's itinerary includes a series of high-level official meetings aimed at enhancing the partnership between the two nations. While the specific agenda for these discussions remains undisclosed, the visit underscores the strategic importance of Saudi financial support in the Maldives' national development strategy. This is not the first time Mr. Al-Marshad has visited the archipelago. His long-standing commitment to the region was formally recognized last year when the Maldivian government conferred upon him the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Muleege, one of the country's highest honors, in appreciation of the SFD's significant contributions to the nation's progress. The Saudi Fund for Development has remained a pivotal partner in building the Maldives' critical infrastructure. To date, the SFD has financed and supported more than 40 projects across various atolls, focusing on improving public services and enhancing the connectivity of remote island communities. These investments have played a vital role in the Maldives' efforts to modernize its infrastructure, reflecting a sustained partnership based on mutual cooperation and shared goals for sustainable regional growth.
