Sea cucumbers in MVR 2m case put up for auction again
Local News ·
Police have announced the auction of sea cucumbers seized in an ongoing embezzlement case. The Maldives Police Service issued a second notice to auction sea cucumbers valued at approximately MVR 2 million, which were confiscated in connection with an alleged embezzlement from a warehouse in Thilafushi. The case was filed by a man from Fuvahmulah, who claims the sea cucumbers were misappropriated. The auction includes four types of sea cucumbers priced between MVR 300 and MVR 850 per kg. Police stated that a criminal investigation is ongoing, and an officer has been suspended over suspected involvement in the case. The Criminal Court previously ruled there was no legal barrier to holding the seized goods, a decision now under appeal at the High Court.
