Senior Government Officials Tackle Leadership Challenges in New Executive Development Program

Senior government officials from various ministries and state institutions gathered at the Maldives National University to address the complexities of modern leadership and governance. The session marked the fifth installment of the Executive Development Program 2025–2027, a strategic initiative aimed at refining the professional capabilities of the state's top administrators. The session featured a lecture by Mohamed Kaleem, a veteran expert with over 30 years of experience in business leadership and community engagement. Kaleem provided a comprehensive analysis of the systemic challenges leaders encounter within governance frameworks, offering practical strategies to navigate these obstacles and improve institutional effectiveness. The Executive Development Program is a rigorous two-year project designed to standardize and elevate leadership quality across the Maldivian public sector. By equipping senior officials with updated management tools and governance theories, the initiative seeks to ensure that state institutions can operate with greater efficiency and transparency. This capacity-building effort is spearheaded by the Political Appointees Performance Management and Capacity Development Section of the President's Office. To ensure a multidisciplinary approach, the office is collaborating closely with the Civil Service Training Institute and the Foreign Service Institute of Maldives. Running through 2027, the program represents a broader government commitment to professionalizing the civil service and strengthening the bridge between political appointments and administrative execution. By focusing on continuous professional development, the state aims to build a resilient leadership tier capable of handling the evolving needs of the Maldives' administrative landscape.
