Sentencing Postponed for Former Fenaka Procurement Head Found Guilty of Corruption

Local News ·
The sentencing hearing for Mariyam Dheena, former Procurement Head of Fenaka Corporation, has been postponed after she was admitted to hospital. Dheena was found guilty on October 12 of abuse of office in a corruption case involving a 2019 agreement between Fenaka and Blazen Inc., where payments were made without the work being completed. The hearing was scheduled for this morning at 10:00 but was cancelled after Correctional Services informed the Criminal Court that Dheena could not be produced due to her hospitalisation. The court said the next hearing will be held after her discharge. Dheena has been remanded pending sentencing. The basic sentence for the offence is one year, seven months and six days. Former Fenaka Managing Director Mohamed Saeed was sentenced to four years in prison in connection with the same case about a year ago. Dheena also faces another corruption case before the Criminal Court related to a CCTV and video conferencing system contract awarded to Caretsoo Private Limited in June 2018.
