Local News ·
The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced the completion of sheet piling on an 85-metre stretch of the Malé north side road. Reclamation works are ongoing, while water and sewerage upgrades are expected to be finished by next week. Additional activities, including pavement construction along building sides, drainage well installations, and cable junction work, are also nearing completion. The project aims to enhance traffic flow, pedestrian safety, and modernize road infrastructure while addressing flooding issues. The local market road project will pave a 250-metre stretch from the market area to the North Harbour, widening the road and extending the canal to six metres. The overall project spans 1,088 metres, connecting the Henveiru Ferry Terminal to the North Harbour. The first phase, covering 140 metres, has already been finalized. The initiative is anticipated to alleviate congestion in the commercial port area and improve goods transportation.
