Sheikh Imthithaau Abbas, Director General of the Maldives Zakat House, has been appointed to lead the specialized Hajj office in Mecca. The office is established annually to manage and oversee all arrangements for Maldivian pilgrims during the Hajj season.
Operating under the Hajj Mission, this office serves as the primary liaison between the Maldivian government and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. While Sheikh Imthithaau Abbas will manage the administrative operations in Mecca, Dr. Ilyas Hussain, a member of the Supreme Council for Islamic Fatwa, will accompany the delegation as the official religious scholar representing the Maldives.
A ten-member Hajj Mission team is scheduled to depart for Saudi Arabia tomorrow. This advance team is tasked with finalizing all logistical preparations before the pilgrims arrive, ensuring that essential services meet the rigorous standards set by the Saudi authorities.
The mission's primary focus will include auditing accommodation facilities in Mecca, coordinating the logistics of Hajj rituals, and overseeing transportation, catering, and healthcare services. These preparations are being finalized in strict accordance with the timeline provided by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
Maldivian pilgrims are expected to begin their journey to Saudi Arabia on the 15th of this month. The mission's early departure is designed to eliminate logistical bottlenecks and ensure a seamless spiritual experience for all citizens undertaking the pilgrimage.
