Sitting Room, Kitchen Destroyed in House Fire at Addu City

A devastating fire broke out at 'Aaya Villa' in Hithadhoo district, Addu City, on Thursday evening, causing extensive damage to the property. The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) responded to the incident, bringing the fire under control by 10:30 PM. According to authorities, the fire started around 7:18 PM, and the cause is currently under investigation by the Maldives Police Service. The house, home to eight residents, suffered significant damage, with the sitting room and kitchen completely destroyed and several bedrooms severely affected. Personal belongings, including clothing, school books, and uniforms, were also lost in the blaze. Photos from the scene depict the extensive destruction. The Addu City Council has arranged temporary housing for the affected residents.
