SME Digital Launches Mobile App to Expand Financial Access for Small Businesses

World ·
SME Digital has introduced a new mobile application designed to streamline access to financial assistance and essential business services for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the Maldives. The platform aims to remove geographical barriers, allowing business owners to manage their finances and apply for services from any location. During the launch ceremony, SME Digital Chief Executive Officer Badhurudheen Hassan emphasized that the application is a cornerstone of the company's transition toward becoming a fully digital financial institution. He noted that the move reflects a commitment to providing fast, customer-focused services that evolve alongside the changing needs of the local business community. The application provides a comprehensive suite of tools for entrepreneurs. Users can now submit applications for services, track the status of their requests in real-time, and manage existing financing facilities. Additionally, the app allows for direct payments toward facilities and provides instant notifications for critical updates, reducing the need for manual follow-ups and physical visits to offices. Looking forward, SME Digital plans to expand the app's functionality to further support local economic growth. One of the primary upcoming features is the integration of a digital marketplace, which will allow SMEs to list and sell their products and services directly through the platform, creating new revenue streams for small vendors. This digital transformation is part of a broader strategic vision to enhance financial inclusion. By leveraging mobile technology, SME Digital aims to ensure that businesses in remote atolls have the same access to financial tools as those in urban hubs like Malé. The SME Digital mobile app will be released in phases to ensure stability and performance. The company announced that the app will soon be available for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play, with users receiving notifications as access is enabled for their specific accounts.
