The Supreme Court of the Maldives has announced the formation of a special taskforce to address the backlog of pending cases in the country's courts. Led by Judge Uthman Abdul Ghani, the taskforce aims to efficiently resolve long-standing issues and reduce the number of unresolved cases. This initiative comes in response to growing concerns about delays in the judicial system, with over 13,032 cases currently pending across various courts. The taskforce will focus on administrative measures to expedite resolutions and ensure justice is served promptly. In a recent statement, Chief Justice Abdul Ghani emphasized the importance of addressing these cases swiftly to uphold public trust in the judiciary. The taskforce includes representatives from different court branches and will work to streamline processes and improve case management.
