A session of the People's Majlis has been scheduled for tomorrow to submit the proposed state budget for next year. The agenda for tomorrow's session has not yet been made public, but Majlis President Abdurrahim Abdullah announced that the session would be held at 01:30 tomorrow for the submission of the budget.
Speaking about the budget, Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Hassan Zareer stated that the focus is on managing expenditures within the state budget without resorting to a supplementary budget this year as well.
The submission of the budget will reveal how recurrent expenditures and capital expenditures are divided, along with details regarding projects, salaries, and loan repayment costs. The amount expected to be received by the government as revenue next year will also be included in the budget.
According to the law, the proposed state budget for the coming year must be submitted to the People's Majlis two months before the end of the year. The budget will be passed after debates are held in the full Majlis and committee stages, along with any amendments brought by the Majlis.
The Ministry of Finance and Corporate Affairs is currently working on preparing the medium-term budget, which covers the period from next year to 2029. A baseline budget is also being prepared based on the estimated expenses required to continue current activities and projects at their existing level or scope.
