StatePharma Denies Folic Acid Shortage in Malé, Says Supply is Sufficient

Health ·
The government’s pharmaceutical company, StatePharma, has dismissed claims circulating on social media that folic acid – a vital supplement for pregnant women – is out of stock in Malé. In a statement, StatePharma said the medicine is available at its main warehouse and across its pharmacies, adding that there is no shortage of folic acid in the country. The company reassured the public that it remains committed to providing essential medicines without interruption. Folic acid, a form of vitamin B9, is crucial for cell growth and the development of the fetal brain and spine. Health experts recommend a daily intake of 400 micrograms, both for pregnant women and the general population. StatePharma urged the public not to believe unfounded rumours and confirmed that it has ample supply.
